Larger battery for popular SUVs
Volvo Cars introduced the long-range plug-in hybrid XC60 and XC90 for the European and American markets on September 15. The global announcement announced preliminary electric range of up to 200 km for the XC60 and up to 160 km for the XC90 under WLTP conditions.
The changes involve a larger battery integrated into the floor and a more powerful electric motor. The gasoline engine remains part of the powertrain. In some countries, orders are open from the day of the announcement, and production is scheduled for later in the fall.
The update is not limited to the drive
The XC60 also gets exterior, interior and active safety updates. Volvo mentions a new 11.2-inch display and Google Gemini. It is important for the buyer to check local specifications: digital features and equipment may vary by market.
How does it compare to the previous T8?
The archived XC60 T8 on sale does not automatically have the characteristics of the new version. Check the year, battery and specific powertrain. The stated distances are preliminary and depend on temperature, speed and other conditions. To estimate the economy of a PHEV, calculate the proportion of daily trips on electricity and the ability to regularly charge the car.
