Result for the entire sales period

The BMW Group announced on August 27 that cumulative deliveries of fully electric vehicles have reached two million. The countdown begins with the launch of the first BMW i3 at the end of 2013. The anniversary i5 M60 xDrive was produced in Dingolfing and handed over to a customer in Spain.

Including plug-in hybrids, the group reports around 3.5 million electrified vehicles during this period. Fully electric models accounted for around 28% of the group's European sales in the first half of 2026.

Accumulated supplies and current demand

Two million is the cumulative result of many years, not a single year’s sales. BMW attributes the new momentum to the Neue Klasse and the iX3. It’s also important to distinguish BEVs, which run on electricity alone, from the broader category of electrified vehicles, which includes plug-in hybrids.

What to consider in the secondary market

The growth of the electric vehicle fleet makes the choice of generations and trim levels more diverse, but general statistics do not describe the condition of a specific car. When comparing BMWs, check the battery, charging standard, service history and availability of connected features. Compare the full purchase price with delivery and preparation, not just the price in the ad.
