A signed deal, not a completed transfer
On August 24, Porsche announced an agreement to sell management and IT consulting company MHP to Tata Consultancy Services. The transaction was subject to customary regulatory and competition approvals at the time of the announcement and was expected to close in the coming months.
MHP is to retain the brand and operate under its own name. Porsche and TCS also plan to collaborate on digital solutions and artificial intelligence, with MHP remaining a partner of the automaker.
Why does an automaker need a digital partner?
Software is not only needed in the car's multimedia. It supports production, component supply and business processes. Porsche links the deal to a focus on core business and the scaling of digital technologies. This is a strategic intention, the outcome of which will depend on implementation.
What does this news mean for the owner?
The message does not contain a general change to the warranty or service conditions for cars. It also does not confirm the appearance of a specific AI feature in a car that has already been sold. Before buying, check the actual available options and upgrades for the model and year of manufacture. Promises of future digitalization should not be replaced by them.
