Two development directions
On September 13, Hyundai Motor Group unveiled its roadmap for automated driving. One direction is based on cooperation with NVIDIA, the other is on the development of its own Atria AI. The company says it aims to launch Level 2+ solutions in the first half of 2028, Level 2++ in the second, and its own Atria AI solutions Level 2++ in the second half of 2029.
Data Flywheel stands for an iterative process: collect data, train models, validate the results, and implement improvements. Hyundai Motor, Kia, 42dot, and Motional are participating in the program.
Plan and actually available feature
The 2+ and 2++ designations describe the manufacturer's approach to developing driver assistance. They should not be read as a promise of fully autonomous driving. The stated dates are plans and availability will depend on the readiness of the technology, the vehicle and the market.
Buying a car today
When choosing a Hyundai now, evaluate the installed assistants and their limits described in the manual. The future platform does not guarantee the modernization of an already released car. For an imported car, check the sensors, regional restrictions and current software. The manufacturer's plan is useful for understanding the development of the brand, but does not replace checking a specific VIN.
