The collaboration covers service, research into EV lubricants and fluids, and motorsport. For the owner, the main thing remains product approval for a specific vehicle.

New five-year phase

On August 19, Hyundai Motor announced the extension of its strategic partnership with Shell Lubricants until 2031. The companies have been cooperating since 2005. The renewed agreement covers service marketing, joint research and sports programs.

Technical areas include engine oil improvements, as well as fluids and coolants for electric vehicles. Shell will work with Hyundai N and act as a performance and innovation partner for Genesis Magma Racing.

Electric cars also need special fluids

The absence of a conventional internal combustion engine does not eliminate the need for cooling and servicing other components. The type of fluid depends on the design of the system. A general partnership of brands is not a license to pour any product from one manufacturer into every Hyundai.

How to choose materials for maintenance

Check the specification, tolerances and replacement interval with the instructions for your specific model and year. For imported cars, check for regional differences in regulations. Keep invoices and records of materials used: they help during diagnostics and subsequent sales. The marketing logo on the canister is less informative than exact compliance with technical requirements.
