A new route into customer motorsport
On August 19, Porsche Motorsport North America announced the Porsche Sprint Trophy Porsche Owners Club. The series is organized in conjunction with the POC club as part of Porsche’s North American racing structure. It is scheduled to begin in 2027.
The program includes Spring Mountain, Willow Springs and two stages at Laguna Seca. The format should suit both participants who are looking to stay in club racing and those planning further development in the sport.
What cars are mentioned in the announcement?
The cars include the new 911 Cup of the 992.2 generation, the previous generation GT3 Cup and the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport and GT4 Clubsport. They will compete in their own classes. The final compliance of a particular car is determined by the technical and sporting regulations.
What to check before buying a track machine
If the car is purchased for a specific series, the first thing to do is to obtain the current requirements of the organizer. The version, safety equipment, its expiration dates and technical history are important. The cost of delivery is only part of the budget: plan for preparation, maintenance and consumables. The announcement of the upcoming season does not replace the final calendar and rules of participation.
